Test post of wp-people

This is a test post for the b2people hack. Which i have now changed to WordPress People hack (wp-people).

The hack is supposed to find names that match database records of people and bios. When it finds a match, it is supposed to replace the name with a link to the bio. There is a screen for adding people and their bios to the database.

However, I used another hack (acronymit) to make this work. I made a pop-up link after failed attempts to get a layer to do what I wanted it to do. I added more information to the people table too. I added url, photo, and photo title fields to the tables. I don’t think there are any other necessary fields for this, since it is supposed to be a short bio.

I don’t know if the guy who created the hack is still supporting it. I made it work with the my-hacks script used in WordPress 1.0.1, so that would be beyond the functionality of the original. I could probably combine the acronym hack with this one and just use the database table. The acronym hack uses an array created in the my-hacks script page. I would rather create a database and a screen to add more acronym’s or definitions.

My name is dean logan, this is the wp-people test. It should take the HTML text (acronym test) and turn it into a link. The link of my name should display a popup window with a little bio information.

My name is Dean Logan and this will soon be wp-people and Kathryn Jones is my friend. At least until she reads her bio. This was test to see if mutliple bio links would work and what would happen with more than one instance of a name. Other friend name Jason Brooks.

Go to my Forum to get the zip download for wp-people, under the Hacks forum.

  1. I just started using the 1.0.1 version. I am using the my-hacks file, which I believe is not in the older version, but it should work with any newer version.

  2. nice hack. Does it support multiple names for one person too? like JMS, James and Jamesy for the same person?

oh i’ll just go adn try it out 🙂

  3. No, it only supports one name per bio. You could enter multiple bios per person, but I woudln’t recommend it. Also, I recommend using a persons full name, just incase you know two people with the same first name.
