SteemNova : Building My Galaxy

Colonizing Planets to Increase Resources   It has been two weeks since I started playing SteemNova, an oGame based space strategy game using the 2Moon system. Welcome Back to Text Base Gaming Last week, in my Slow Times on SteemNova article, I mentioned that I had reached the point where each new level of building or research took a lot more Metal, Crystal and Deuterium. One of the ways to increase your resources is to colonize planets. You do this by researching Expedition Technology, building a Colony Ship and then sending it to a blank spot in your galaxy. While the price of the Continue reading SteemNova : Building My Galaxy

The Slow Times on SteemNova

When the strategy game drags you on. It has been a week since I started playing SteemNova, a space strategy game using the OGame based Two Moons. Welcome Back to Text Base Gaming Since I started, I have created an Alliance with @gniksivart and @potplucker. Because I created it and the other guys didn’t care, I named it Logic Force. Which seems more like a policing group than a universe conquest team. Since all three of us have just started last week, we are still at the bottom half of the leader board. In fact, the only battles we’ve been in is that @gniksivart has been attacked Continue reading The Slow Times on SteemNova

Welcome Back to Text Base Gaming

I’ve decided to start playing SteemNova, what have I done!! The other day, I stumbled on a post that somehow led me to @steemnova.@steemnova is a blog for information about a text-based space game called SteemNova, which is hosted at http://steemnova.intinte.org. The only real connection to Steem, at the moment, is the blogs and the name. They hope to have some deeper connections in the future, but right now anyone can sign up and play. Maybe in the future, they can create a SMT that goes along with the game to reward people on the leader board. Currently, they are doing rewards this Continue reading Welcome Back to Text Base Gaming

Build Once Deploy Everywhere But BlackBerry

Over the past few years, I have been actively developing games (and app prototypes) with Unity.  For those who don’t know, Unity is probably the most used game engine by Indie developers. While using Unity, I have been seeing two version number increases over the past years, from 3.x to 5.x. Over all the years, Unity has been adding more and more platforms to its range, including BlackBerry 10. Many Games that you can download in BlackBerry App World today are made with Unity, including some of the most popular games like Breakfast Saga by Marco Gallo or even the Continue reading Build Once Deploy Everywhere But BlackBerry

Zombie Crossing – game review

Time for another silly game review. Whether it is my review that is silly or the game is, will be determmined by the reader. Back in the 1980’s arcades (that place in the mall that you would go to in order to play games) had several games that had a simple premis, but would draw you in for hours just to do a very basic task. One of these games was Frogger. All you had to do was get the frog to hop across the road, grass and river to the other side. Occasionally you would guide the frog to Continue reading Zombie Crossing – game review

Cascades animations in games

This article is a follow-up of How to use Cascades built-in animations Animations are perfect for simple games, so let’s create one right now. The game we’ll be building is called ‘No Fly Zone’ and consist of a fly flying around the screen that we need to kill. First, we’ll need a fly image, so I’ve found this one from http://www.openclipart.org :   We’ll separate this image in two parts : the body and wings. Save those 2 images in ‘assets/images/’ folder (you’ll need to create ‘images’ folder). To make the wings flap, we’ll put both images on top of each other Continue reading Cascades animations in games
