Built for BlackBerry

Just because you build an app to run on a BlackBerry device, doesn’t mean that it is Built for BlackBerry. There are guidelines for what is considered Built for BlackBerry. And after you think you have done your best to meet those guidelines, you have to submit your app to be scrutinized by someone from BlackBerry to determine if you did meet those guidelines. On top of that, you only get a limited number of tries to get the app passed. Built for BlackBerry. The signature BlackBerry 10 experience. Built to keep you moving, apps and games with the Built Continue reading Built for BlackBerry

Meetup for BlackBerry 1.2.2

Meetup for BlackBerry 10 by DeanLogic version 1.2.2 is now available for download. The first thing you should notice is that the install size is now only 1.5 MB. Sorry for making it so huge before, I didn’t realize the splash screen images were the culprit. The other obvious change is the app icon. Due to a request from Meetup, I modified the logo to meet their requirements. I added shortcut keys for the Q and Passport, but found out that the ‘Alt’ key won’t work for those shortcuts. I will do a different shortcut and send out an update. Continue reading Meetup for BlackBerry 1.2.2

Meetup for BlackBerry 10 release 1.2.0

I have done a minor/mid release (1.2.0 / 4.2.0) for the Meetup app. I updated the build OS to 10.2. I figured at this point, everyone should have updated their device to 10.2.1. Another push for updating to 10.2, is that BlackBerry has already announced 10.3 and provided beta simulators, so that developers could get started updating their apps or building new apps with the new features. I don’t plan on pushing out a 10.3 version until I feel that the majority of my users have upgrade. One of the reasons I wanted to go to 10.2 is the addition Continue reading Meetup for BlackBerry 10 release 1.2.0

Release 1.1.1 look at the download reports

I did a small update to fix an issue with the OAuth Token expiring while the app was working. When the user enters the app from being closed, it updates (sometimes it requires a user action). I would prefer to get this fixed that after the initial authentication, any other update will go automatically. I also fixed the pinch to zoom method of looking at the pictures and added an email feedback in the app menu. I added the email feedback because I got another review stating that the app didn’t work on a Z10. With no way of contacting Continue reading Release 1.1.1 look at the download reports

A look at my download reports

I released my first BB10 app back on Oct. 28th (trying to get a free Red Z10) and then I did an update on Dec. 04. When you do a basic report in the BlackBerry Vendor World, you see something like this. Which doesn’t tell you much, except for that a bunch of people updated the app when I released the new version. To get more detailed information, you do scheduled report (which is a misleading title).  A scheduled report is an CSV output of the application, date downloaded, batch file downloaded, application version, device model, device OS, country, carrier Continue reading A look at my download reports

My first BlackBerry 10 app

I just updated my first BlackBerry 10 application; Meetup for BlackBerry 10. I was attempting to get the app released by a deadline in order to win a free Z10 in Red.  The offer was to be one of the first 500 developers to build an app and then get it certified as Built for BlackBerry in a certain time frame.   Well, I didn’t get it submitted in time, because there is a big delay between getting your app submitted and getting it reviewed; then apparently there is a delay for getting Built for BlackBerry certified.  Because I rushed Continue reading My first BlackBerry 10 app
