WordPressing to Steemit

One of the issues with publishing content is getting your content on all the platforms that you want to see it appear. In most cases, you can publish a post and have it automatically publish to Facebook, Twitter or whatever social media site you have connected to your blog. This allows for maximum exposure with less effort. Right now, STEEMit only has the ability to share to Twitter and Facebook, which is probably the best way you want the flow to go. STEEMit is more of a social media platform than a blog. The reason I say that it, because Continue reading WordPressing to Steemit

Custom Category Icons

I mentioned in my new template post that I might add back the Category images to the posts. Well, I thought I would give it a try, but the first step was to see if something existed in the WordPress Plugin world.  There were a few options, but they either only posted the images on the Category template page or only did one image per post.  And all methods required modifying the template files. So, no go on that, time to re-add my original hack. I had previously created a way to pull up the Category description and image in Continue reading Custom Category Icons

New Template and Join the Conversation

My blog has never been a hub of post post communication. The main reason for this has been the spam bots that join the site when registration was open or leave comments when comments are open. It isn’t that I don’t want to have discussion on my blog, but it is annoying to keep up with the right plugin or setting or managing all the invalid user accounts. I’ve decided to try a different method of conversation using BBM Channels. Why would I want to do that? BBM is free and on BlackBerry, Windows, Android and iPhones BBM, as far Continue reading New Template and Join the Conversation

Short URLs for fun and marketing

During a discussion in the BBM Group “Baby Steps: BB Dev”, we were talking about apps sales and how to get more downloads. It was mentioned that in a recent developer survey, it was found that the more time a developer spent on marketing, as a percentage of development, the number of app downloads increased. A basic business principle, spend money on marketing to increase sales. After sharing this tidbit with the group, the discussion turned to tracking app reviews from different sources to see which ones are the most useful for increasing downloads. I had already started working on Continue reading Short URLs for fun and marketing

Author Box Adding Additional Contacts Hack

After posting about another app created by a developer in the Baby Steps: BB Dev BBM Group, I asked the group if anyone wanted to post an article on my blog about what is like to work with the BBM Group. Since the developers in the group are always thanking each other for help, I figured it would be good for developers outside of our group to know that there are groups who like to be helpful to each other when developing apps. And, since it is always good to get multiple opinions, I figured it would be good for Continue reading Author Box Adding Additional Contacts Hack

WP People

This plug-in will search a post and find names that match database records of people maked with the WP Category in the XFN Links. When it finds a match, it will replace the name with a link to the person. There is a administration screen for adding people and their bios to the database and viewing the current people marked for the filter. More than one person can be linked on a post. A individual name will only be linked once per post. Continue reading WP People
